Te Ara Tuatahi (First Steps) is the name we have given to Central Health’s Central Hawke’s Bay healthier lifestyle strategy, based on the well known whakatauki ‘A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first steps’.

Central Hawke’s Bay Solutions Project.

 

Late in 2009 Central Health/Te Whatuiapiti Trust, Waiapu Anglican Social Services and Central Hawke’s Bay District Council secured a Department of Internal Affairs funded internship to carry out local service mapping of Central Hawke’s Bay. Specifically the project is designed to find out what health and social services are currently being provided within Central Hawke’s Bay and where if any are the gaps and overlaps in service provision.

Also on offer for 2010, are level 6 papers in AOD counselling and level 7 papers (yet to be confirmed)

My name is Pam Kupa- Sheeran Service Manager for Te Waireka - Residential Alcohol & Drug Service for Youth/Rangatahi.  After starting my studies in 2005, I now currently hold an advanced Certificate and Diploma in AOD studies, a Certificate in Alcohol and Drug Youth Work (level 5) All this has been hard work, however over a short period of part time study, this has been achieved and has encouraged me to continue  working towards completing my  Degree in 2010 (two papers to go)
