2. Te Poutama Tautoko Alcohol and other Drug Services provide:

  • Alcohol and Drug Assessments
  • Alcohol and Drug Counselling
  • Alcohol and Drug Education
  • Kaupapa Maori Aod Day Programme –Te Mauri Programme
  • Cultural  advice and support
  • Referral to Residential (Adult and Youth)
  • Whanau / Family Sessions
  • Supported Accommodation
  • After Care / Relapse Prevention
  • Access to Rongoa and other cultural interventions
  • NZTA Assessments (previously LTNZ)
  • Court Reports (fee payable)

3. Te Mauri Programme:

Te Mauri is an 8 week Kaupapa Maori AoD Programme that caters for adults 18 – 65+ who have problems associated with Alcohol or other Drugs. Referral to Te Mauri Programme is through your counsellor.

Te Mauri Programme includes:

  • Tikanga Maori
  • Wairua Sessions (Wairua)
  • Whakapapa (Whanau)
  • Addiction Education
  • Psycho Education (Hinengaro)
  • Relapse Prevention
  • Health Living (Tinana)
  • Group Therapy
  • Community Speakers

How to make a referral into Te Poutama Tautoko

Referrals are accepted from:

  • GP’s and Hospital
  • Self referrals
  • Whanau/family members
  • Maori and Pacific service providers
  • Other community based services
  • Government Departments
  • Community Probation
  • Child Youth and Family Services


Te Poutama Tautoko Supported Accommodation -
Te Herenga Manaaki

A 6 bed facility is available for whaiora to live in whilst they attend the 8 week Mauri Programme. Referral to the Supported Accommodation is through your Counsellor.
Te Herenga Manaaki is staffed 24 hours by caring House Supervisors.
Criteria for entry to the house – discuss with your counsellor


Adult Supported Accommodation

This service provides supported accommodation to whaiora/clients with Alcohol & Drug concerns. They must be registered to attend Te Mauri Programme. The supported accommodation has a night programme that whaiora are required to take part in.

Our accommodation is situated in Napier where whaiora/clients are transported 5 days a week to Te Poutama Tautoko for group and individual sessions.

We can receive referrals from the following areas:

  • Wairoa
  • Napier
  • Hastings
  • Central Hawke’s Bay
  • Wairarapa
  • Capital and Coast
  • Hutt Valley
  • Whanganui , and
  • Mid Central
